11 Aug 2007 What a Storm!

I usually really like storms, I think the thunder and lightening are exciting and I like to sleep to the sound of rain. But last night scared me. I woke up around 1:30am feeling like I was in a car wash. The rain was pounding on every window in our bedroom. I quickly got up and closed the windows above our bed, and before I could close the ones on the sides of our room I got sprayed with the rain while standing in the middle of the room! After closing everything in our bedroom I ran down stairs to alarm Tim that we needed to close every window in the house…which all were open including our sliding doors…to say the least, our carpet was wet. :)

One the way to work I think I was just in a state of shock the whole way. Starting with pulling out of our drive way. Our landlords had 2 trees down, one a huge evergreen pictured above, and then another oak or something by their house was down. Further down the street a tree was over with the trunk split in half, and at the stop sign to go into town, there was a trampoline all torn up in the middle of a corn field. All the cornfields were ruined and blown over. And right by work there was such a crazy looking wall of rain with clouds I hadn’t ever seen before, or remember seeing.

I got off of work at noon and everything was gorgeous. I absolutely loved today. Tim and I spent time going to the bike shop looking at possibilities for me ’cause someone gave us a gift card. And went out for dinner. Then I came home and took tons and tons of pictures which I loved doing ’cause I feel like I haven’t had much time to do anything today. And now I need to get off so we can go watch a movie together. I started an online photo album, so you can see all my pictures from today here.

This is what today ended up looking like. It was gorgeous! A perfect day for taking pictures!

I know you think this picture is kind of random…and it is…but this is Eureka. I realized that I hadn’t taken a picture of him to share with everyone yet, so here he is. We’ve had him for about a month now. Oh! I almost forgot. I had read before that you can train a Beta to eat out of your hand, well I was just playing around holding a piece of his food in my finger tips and he jumped up and took it from me! It scared me so much, but that was so cool! Tim tried it, and he wouldn’t take it, but ate it when he put it in the bowl. I guess Eureka has bonded with me all the days I have fed him and been in the kitchen cooking with him. Who thought a fish could be fun! :)

Amanda and I had talked about Tim and I taking their family photos for them, and today we got the opportunity! I offered us trying to take them first before going somewhere to pay to have them done. So hopefully they are happy enough with what we were able to take to be able to use them. I got their permission to put a some on my blog, so these are a few, I tried to narrow it down. :)

Davis was so cute watching him interact with Bria. He wouldn’t pose for us, he just liked laying next to her spending time with her. How adorable!
Bria has just recently started to interact with people and is so much fun! During lunch she was laying on the couch talking away so I figured that would be the best time to get her to smile, and she just laughs and laughs for her Momma!
Davis sporting his new sunglasses. And he loves the water, so this was perfect for his little personality!

10 Apr 2007 The Last Few Days

Easter Sunday was wonderful. It’s nice to enjoy all the firsts with being married. God has blessed Tim and I with such a wonderful church family. The youth put on an Easter breakfast to raise money for our 2008 mission trip to Belize. There was a good amount of people that came to help support the youth. The youth worked so hard at making the breakfast possible, and there were lots of great adult helpers and parents that contributed also.

David and Adrienne were able to come up and spend Easter with us also. We all went and had lunch at the home of a family in our church who invited us over. Being with friends and family that you love makes holidays even more special, so I am so grateful for that opportunity. This was my first year to be away from my parents and sister for Easter, so it was very nice to have plans. I still get homesick, but not as bad now.

The other day Amanda and Connor came over. They have been cleaning things out of their house and had a couple things that Tim and I are so happy to have from them. They continue to make us feel welcomed and blessed. Then tonight Tim and I had dinner at another couple’s home, Amanda and Mark. They’re another young couple our age that we met last week. We’re slowly getting to know people our age. It’ll come as time passes while we’re here. I’m still adjusting to things, so I’m okay with taking things slow. :)

I still don’t have a job. I had to redo my fingerprints for my certification, so I got that done tonight after dinner. Now I’ll mail them in tomorrow and pray that these are good for them to keep. I had an interview Saturday to be a photographer’s assistant. I was pretty excited about it ’cause I love photography and thought it’d be a good opportunity to learn more about it, but I would have been working a lot one and one with the photographer who is a man. He is looking for a female assistant to be around when he’s doing wedding photos and girl’s photos, but that would also require other times when it would just be the two of us. Tim holds the standard of never being alone with a female who isn’t me or family, and I really appreciate that and admire that of him. With that, I need to hold myself to the same standard. I’m a little bummed to turn down a photography position, but I know God will have the perfect job for me. I did enjoy meeting the photographer’s wife. She was really sweet, and they were both complimentary about my portfolio cd of some of my favorite pictures. She had just had surgery on one of her legs last Saturday. I’ve been praying for her recovery. We talked a little bit, and like most people it’s hard to just lay around and rest when there are things to be done. Although the job wont work out, it was fun to meet new people.
