Today was confirmation Sunday at our church. We had 56 youth, both 8th and 9th graders get confirmed. The reason for the large number is because we’ve been in transition with the youth ministry, trying to start confirmation in 7th grade instead of 8th so we can help build a foundation for our students sooner than later.
I had the priveledge to co-teach with an amazing woman. Marcia and I didn’t know each other before we started teaching together, and I give God all the praise for making the combination he did. We did trial and error with the lessons and what format to do our small group on Wednesdays. We were both flexible with things and worked great together. I also had the priveledge to teach 7 amazing girls for the past 2 years. Today was a bitter sweet day knowing that our time as a small group has come to an end, but know that each of these girls have grown leaps and bounds in the past 2 years. It’s really amazing to look back and see how they have matured. I pray that each of our girls will continue to walk strong in their faith in Christ and stay plugged in to a group of believers as they continue their Journey with God.
Tim and I were at the church by 7:30 this morning to do some last minute prep before our 3 services for confirmation Sunday. Then afterwards we went to lunch with one of my small group girls, then over to the house of another for dessert, and then on to one of the guy’s houses in the youth who was also confirmed. I had a couple hours to rest at home while Tim went out and met with one of our highschool guys, then did his weekly discipling of one of our youth workers. We ended the evening with Sr. High Impact tonight and got home around 9:30. We came home to finish cleaning up the house and now in about 30 minutes my dad and grandparents should be arriving, and then off to bed!
Today has been such a wonderful and eventful day. I loved listening to all 56 confirmand’s testimonies this morning. And watching the youth lead and do special music for the services.
